The island Koh Phangan resides in Siambay, it's mainly featured by green Mountains, small fishing villages and beautiful beaches. Koh Phangan is mostly known of its Full Moon Parties, but except for these one-month events this is not a party Island. The best time of visit is between December and April.

Koh Phangan is about to change, but for the first time under an environmentally controlled aspect. Only certain areas are allowed for exploitation. The main part of the Island resides of nature reserves where you can find unexploited rainforests and a unique flora and fauna. This in combination with the that the locals still show a great hospitality, makes the destination perfect for all kinds of people. Families, seniors and couples have lately taken over the destination at the cost of partying teenagers that visiting Haad Rin during the Full moon.
Beaches
Koh Phangan has a lot of fantastic beaches and all has different character. Where you want to spend your time is totally up to what you want to do or what you are out for. There are opportunities for all kinds either if you just want to relax or do some activities.
Thong Nai Pan consists of two beaches, here can you find the more expensive resorts. The area is for people that want to spend a bit more on the vacation with comfort and relax.
Bottle Beach is known as the backpackers Place. It's only possible to get her by boat or 4x4 car. Isolated from the rest of the Island you can enjoy a good book for lazy days on the beach and recharge your batteries.

Baan Tai & Baan Kai are the longest beaches of the Island. Its popularity has grown lately. Its proximity to shops, restaurants and bars makes it unique on Koh Phangan. Although the nearby main street this is Always a quiet Place. Here you can find many activities like kite surfing, jet ski, beach volleyball and soccer.
Haad Rin is profanely mostly know of its monthly full moon parties. It could be very busy during these days, but the most beautiful beaches can be found here. One more negative thing is that the staff around the are bit "tired" of Tourists which can lower the overall impression a bit.
The Eastern side of the island resides by some hard to reach beaches. The best way to get there are by boat, but when you get there you will find postcard beauty beaches with the best yoga schools on the Island. Go here on a day trip just to experience the paradise.
Things to keep in mind
Unfortunately there are some accidents mainly by unexperienced drivers of motorbikes. The roads on the island are somewhat a challenge due to steep, narrow and sometimes sandy passages. If you feel unsure take a taxi instead.
Do not miss this Island, it is one of Thailand's most beautiful place and still yet not exploited. Many often do the misjudge only to visit the Island for its full moon parties and there for miss the true spirit of the Island.
How to get to Koh Phangan
The fastest way from Bangkok is by airplane to Koh Samui and then by boat for about one hour. It's also possible to take a boat from Chumphon, South of Hua Hin via Koh Tao a cruse of nearly Three hours.
So, whether you like beach or jungle, silence or heavy party sound, Koh Phangan will satisfy you and your soul, and you will easily find out for yourself why this island is perfect for making the vacations of your dreams.
